looks pretty interesting, would consider doing this depending on what exact modifications needed to be done. would be interested in you starting a thread on the exact modifications needed to be done if you would be so kind to share

When the motor is up and running and I can vouch for all the mods I made then I promise I will start a how to thread with the exact mods.
Keep in mind I am using a f23 block so iam not sure it would be exactly the same on an H block. I speculate that it would be very similar.
I would love to see blade try it out and go into 9 second territory !

Curious as to why you chose h22 pistons, instead of k series pistons. Love the build regardless

I already had the pistons laying around from another project. In the end I wish I had used the K series pistons so I wouldn't have had to deal with pistons sticking out of the hole a bit.
My ultimate goal will be to sleeve another block so I can go with a bigger bore and custom pistons.

I had an F23a4 with K20a2 pistons, slightly ported h22 head and type-s cams. I absolutely loved it, I can't even begin to fathom how this build will turn out.

Iam a little worried about the rod bearings holding up with higher RPMs. As iam sure you know the big end width is a bit smaller than an h series.
Do you mind my asking what type of power were you making and how high were you able to rev the motor and still make power ? How long did the motor last you .
Thanks

I only revved to to 8000rpm or so, since I still had stock rods and rod bolts. Not sure on the power level, but my guess would be about 220hp or so. The engine was in 91 civic hatch, mid to low 12 second car, never got numbers at the track, but destroyed everyone local,(not too proud to say that)

There is a member on the forum who machined the f23crank rod journals wider, to be able to use the wider b series bearings I believe, if you are interested, I can see if I can find the thread.

I beat on the car every time I drove it, and it held up just fine, I sold the block to some guy in VA,no clue if its still running, but was in great shape when I sold it. I tore it apart to recheck clearances and bearing wear, and everything still looked brand new. This engine was together for at least 10k miles, and saw 8k rpm MANY times on a daily basis when I owned it.

Bought the collector from some shop in Michigan ? Not as nice as a Burns but it will do .

Nice build, in for progress.

I have seen the beginnings of two of these reverse head H22 builds. Unfortunately I don't believe that ether of them finished. Hopefully you can bring this one to the finish line.

I'll take that bet.... how does $1000 sound? I say they are H22 pistons, you say they are K20...... deal?

F#@k it! I can't take the suspense. Where I have actually read the thread, I can tell you already that you lost the bet and now owe me the $1k.

Did you read any of the posts in this thread...lol

No updates other than to say that I have not made much progress on this . Life has been in full effect for me lately.
The project WILL be finished just can't say when .
I will absolutely be posting updates good or bad either way !

My buddy has been on my *** to finish the car so I will be slowly getting back to it hopefully soon.

Stay tuned guys !

I see. Can't wait to see it running man. Did you use a horizontal mill to do the groove cut on the head?

I used my knee mill to make the camshaft locator groove. Half of the groove is in the cam cap and half in the cam journal.

The other option would be to grind off the original cam ring and manufacture a ring that can be pressed on to the end of the camshaft to mimic the original ring.
If I were to do it again I would do it that way.

After all the only thing the ring really does is keep the cam from moving laterally when installed.

yup!! I'm just figuring out what way to do mine when the time comes. I have a few lathes and a tig welder so turning that down and rewelding a ring might be my best option. Thanks for the info!
