Don't know if you guys have seen this, as I'm not a frequenter of the NSX section.

It seems a shame that the NSX name will probably be dropped, but certainly understandable from Honda's point of view - new car, huge performance increase, so they want to make sure everyone knows its not the old NSX.

The NSX did more with less, and its replacement looks as if it will do more with more.

I think it would be more of a shame if they kept the NSX name for this car. It has a very particular meaning that has absolutely no relvence to the new model.

Yes, I can understand the point of view that wants the name dropped, but, lots of cars have gone through dramatic changes (power boosts, styling changes, engine layouts, etc.) and kept their model name. Its personal preference - I like the NSX name.

And if the name gets changed, I wonder if it will be two new names; one for the Honda brand, and another for the Acura brand in North America.

Good god... it's not even a concept or a showcar. It's a test mule barely disguised as an S2000 built to test the new supercar suspension and driveline under somewhat anonymous circumstances. Blind indeed.

Actually, the Acura brand is shortly becoming a global marque for Honda. There will even be Acuras in Japan.

I'm fairly sure it won't be called an "NSX." 1) It carries nothing over from the original NSX 2) It's a GT and not, by design, a sportscar 3) Honda has already stated that this is the NSX's successor. Meaning not an evolution of the original design.

I don't speak Japanese but I do know that in their culture there is as much meaning in what's not said as what is.

Oh, my.... God. LOL.

On a side note, i dont like the proportioning of this car, It misses out on the up front cab design of the old NSX which made it look so great. The 'engineless' designs seen in Hondas of old were the best designs. They should be trying to revive that.

I guess nobody read what I wrote. I'll make it crystal clear. The 09 "NSX" WILL NOT look like the modded s2000 you see lapping the nurburgring. It's a disguise, a test mule. They took a current S and expanded the bodywork to accomodate the supercar drivetrain and suspension, so they could test and tune under somewhat anonymous circumstances. Honda wouldn't be stupid enough to make their next supercar look like a bloated S.
