I'll assume you mean DB8 type R. USDM GSRs also have DB8 VIN numbers.
To me, "decent looking clone" is an oxymoron. There's no such thing as a decent looking "clone". The car itself might look decent, but the moment you call it a "clone", it magically transforms itself into a pile of crap.
I hate: Si clones. ITR clones. EK9 clones. Because people call them clones after putting ONE (or less) part from the real car on theirs.
Got a fake Si lip and stolen Si cluster? Now your EX has been transformed into an Si clone.
Got a ITR swap on your GS? You now own what you call a "Type R".
Got a 96 DX Coupe with an ebay CTR lip and civic HX wheels? It's totally an EK9 even though it's not a hatchback.
Got a 99 hatchback? Is it lowered? Does it have steelies? Do you know it's now called an EK9 CTR?
So lame. I don't mind putting ITR parts on non R's....I just hate the idea of trying to make a clone car. My GF's DB8 has a 5 lug and might have an ITR swap at some point. It's still going to be a GSR. Never anything different.

Wish I had a pic but in one of my old NOPI videos from back in 02 there was a first gen Hyundai Tiburon with Type R plastered all over it. What a sight lol.

I see so many type r badges / stickers here in socal. I bought my car with the red H badge on the trunk. I had plans to remove it and put the silver H on, but before I could someone stole it.. It pissed me off, not for the reason I wanted the badge but because someone jacked something from my car. Eff thieves and fakes...
