What is the process?

I heard that the American has to get temporary insurance before picking up the car, and then he has to drive it to an insurance place to get it checked out. Then, its insurable... is that at all correct?

And just to be more ITR related, I like VTEC and I would miss my ITR if I sold it, but those are the breaks.
