A toothbrush? holy jesus... people are idiots these days.
Yeah but this idiot has a motor thats so clean that you could eat off it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

I'm gonna let that comment slide, but I am very anal about keeping my engine bay clean....

I'm sure its mostly placebo affect. As for the car starting on the first crank, mine always does anyway, so whip-te-do.

clean is fine.. a waste of time, but whatever. if you had said wire brush, or something to that effect, i wouldn't have commented... however, a toothbrush isn't going to do shit to get you a better electrical connection. that's all. have fun with the toothbrush.

Re: Review: Tommy Gunns Earthing Kit installed (Chris N)

If I remember correctly, adding a ground wire other than the one already attached to the tranny caused huge problems. Leave the tranny ground as is, and put the ground wires where tommy gunns told you to put them. SCC doesn't know, they really don't.
I don't see why this would happen, a ground is a ground is a ground is a ground as far as I know, and current will always take the least path of resistance. What difference does adding another path make?

Re: Review: Tommy Gunns Earthing Kit installed (Chris N)

I thought it was more to give the car a more 'smooth' feel... less vibration, etc.
yes this is very true.. i actually made my own "kit".... bought some 8 gauge wire for like 3 bucks... and terminals..

what i noticed was that my car felt A LOT smoother... especially noticeable for such an old car that i have...

-less vibration in the car (i used to have HEAVY vibration and shaking)
-quicker start (even in the cold ass weather we have these days)
-also better idling and throttle response

i wouldnt be surprised if it really does give any hp gains, but im happy with my best $6 investment to the car https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

can u educate me on how this whole thing works?

Re: Review: Tommy Gunns Earthing Kit installed (PatrickGSR94)

I believe the reasoning between this is that different parts of the motor are grounded at different places on the chassis. These places on the chassis may be closer or farther from the battery than others. By placing grounds from certain points of the motor, you can shorten the distance the ground my travel from the battery to these points. The key is using high quality wire with very little resistance, and a good contact point.

Re: Review: Tommy Gunns Earthing Kit installed (Tommy_Gunns)

Just wanted to add my $.02. Got Tommy's kit the other day. The best part is the quality of the wires, connections, and packaging (everything is there, even ties for the strut bar https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif ).
The hardest part of the install was getting my hand in there for the alternator ground.
Can't really tell a big difference in what I'm "supposed" to feel, but hey, it can't hurt. Overall, great quality piece.

yeah, I'll have fun with the toothbrush, but since when does cleaning my engine bay with a toothbrush improve electrical connection...? You lost me there

The grounding wires are awesome. I just put a kit on my car and It feels so good. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif They do work. Here is a link that I have posted on another forum.
