normal engine noise? or not?
hi there,
problem I have is that my engine started to make some noise, it's a knocking noise that doesn't always exist, maybe half the days that I drive the car, so almost every other day. At first I thought it was one of the valves, so I took it in for check-up, and was told that valves are fine, don't need to be adjusted even, and the noise was coming from the fuel injector. So then I ask them, now what? and they say that this is a normal noise, and all type-r's sound like that. so I kinda bitched at them a little, coz I've been driving the car for over 3 years and haven't heard that noise before, and I didn't like them almost throwing at me anything like that, as if I didn't know what my car should sound like.
Anyways, noise is still there, and I'm glad I have on record that I had my car checked up, in case this problem gets worse.
does anybody here have an explanation to what might be the cause of this? coz one thing is for sure, it's NOT normal.
thanks,

it can be heard mostly when idle, but also when in gear, in lower RPMs. In higher RPMs other noises overpower it, so it can't be heard (escpeially the spoon exhaust), the noise is made in all conditions, higher and lower RPMs, and under load and without load.
R has 37k miles, so not a great amount.
If it is the fuel injector, then it would seem that only one of them makes that noise, not all 4.
the amount of noise isn't that much, but it definitely isn't normal, and it can be clearly distinguished, even from inside of the car with rolled up windows.
no check engine lights ever.
