Default Down shift from 5th to 4th gear problem

Last weekend I was cruising with my R on 5th gear. When I decided to put it in 4th gear it didnt want to engage. This was tried at about 4000 RPM. If you take the gear stick a but further up (to the 3rd gear) and then to 4th it will engage with no problems.

Downshifting from 5th to 3rd works perfectly even with high rpms . Even from 5th to 2nd works perfect.

Shifting from 3rd to 4th gear at 9000RPM is possible and no grinds. The only synchro I have a problem with is the 3rd gear which sometimes grinds when shifting at high RPMS.

Could it be the 3rd gear synchro problem is affecting my downshift from 5th to 4th ?

EDIT : My R has about 18K miles on it and tranny fluid was changed about 5k miles ago.

im haveing this exact same problem. from my searching around and talking to a couple tranny places we sorta have it narrowed down to the the sleeve that slides over the syncros(the sleeve the shift fork moves). but if it the same problem its a solid feel when it stops, like its not even getting to the sycros.
