I've always run 10w-30 but yes, you can not beat Amsoil. It's more expensive than some, but the quality is superior.

I'm running German Castrol Syntec 0-w30. Haven't burned any oil and I'm 4k since my last oil change.

When I began road racing, I used to always go through approximately .5-.75 quarts per weekend with Mobil 1. After switching to Amsoil, I didn't use any.

Good luck

I started with Mobil1, and when that began to burn, I switched to Redline, and when that began to burn I said f* it, and just bought a case of Redline to keep toping her off.

After seeing at least 5 people that use it and swear by it, I may have to try it as well.

My buddy convinced me to switch to Mobil 1 and I am very impressed with that, so I bet Amsoil is/should be better.

Anyone ever used Lucas Oil Treatment and if so, how did it help with your oil consumption? Perhaps is it better to move from 10w30 to 10w40?

Reason i ask is this: Im a college student with year left. Being a college student, naturally A. im broke and B. i dont have much free time. My R just rolled over 130000 miles and im down to burning a quart every 500ish miles with spirited driving (couple hundred more if i baby the crap out of it). Im currently looking for a short term solution to my oil problem so that when i graduate, i then can get a different DD and get the R off the road for some much needed attention. Thoughts/suggestions?

Reviving an old topic, I'm interested to hear from people that used to burn allot of oil and after changing to something else it got less, like the guys with Amsoil and the guy in Italy with his Euro stuff BARDAHL XTC C60 15w50.

Im my daily driver I run Mobile1 because I used to use Castrol in my race car and switched to Mobile 1 because of engine oil temp, after a weekend we pulled down to check bearings and were surprised to find absolutely no ware I mean none the bearings looked new. So I switched to mobile 1 since then but when I hit V-Tech I kill every mosquito in the county, I am pretty sure I can burn a quart in 1000 miles. I would like to burn less oil let me know.

Hi,

I used to run Mobil 1 but was disturbed by the stuff I was finding on the magnetic drain plug. Switched to Castrol Synthetic 5-30 or 0-30 and the amount of crud on the drain plug is cut in half.

Not scientific I realize, but the best I've got.

FWIW Corvettes come with Mobil 1 and I've read complaints in the Corvette magazines about how much they burn<LOL>

Yes I saw guys on here that said they burn less oil when they switched thanks for the input, I'm probably going to get a new breather box, a new pcv valve and try the Amsoil

Mobil 1 = teh suck. I contribute my oil consumption (eventual spun bearings) problem to Mobil 1. The car didn't seem to burn oil until I switched over to Mobil 1 -shame on me for not realizing the situation. I'm going to amsoil as soon as the rebuilt engine gets broken in. -200 miles and counting on the break-in.

Any insight on Shell Rotella-T? Something about it contains more zinc than regular oils which helps to prevent rocker pad/cam wear....

Correct any of that if im wrong, Im reciting by memory.

Castrol GTX non-synthetic

Used to use that, I saw marked improvement in bearing wear after switching to Mobile 1 but on this Acura it smokes bad in v-tech, its embarrassing
