Default Z Max

Do you guys know about this product? It's supposedly to be good for your engine/transmission and improve gas mileage. The infomercial had me sold... just wanted to see if you guys used it?

It is just an infomercial. If it had you sold, then it did it's job.

Don't get me wrong, ZMax is quite good....because it uses Linkyte (spelling?) Any lubricant that uses that will be just as good. If you shop around, you'll see many that have this ingredient as well.

I was suckered into trying it out for my 160k maxima. I used the fuel additive and engine oil additive. The tranny additive is sitting on my bathroom sink.

I experienced a little improvement in gas mileage - maybe 1-2mpg increase. But the mileage went back down in about ~3000 miles. There was some ruling that said it's nothing more than mineral oil. My guess is it acts like a mild detergent and gets rid of carbon deposits. So high mileage, carboned-up cars respond to it but I feel the stuff is so weak it hardly does anything lasting. If you look around, you can actually find industrial strength version of the linkite stuff.

So my verdict is, it's just another snake oil. You are better off keeping up with regular oil changes and using brandname fuel.

Thanks guys... I always thought those fuel additives were harmful for our cars... no?

i was about to go looking for that link. One good fuel additive.

Chevron's techron injector cleaner (runs about 11-15 bucks a bottle, depending where you buy it).

This is the only fuel additive that honda reccomends/uses.

If its for honda, its for me
