Default wrong tire size?

i have 205/40/16 tires on my 94'LS, i noticed in this forum that some of you guys were talking about having 205/45/16 tires, if i am driving with the incorrect sized tires would it have any adverse effects on my spedometer and/or odometer?

ps: the reason why i think that these tires might be the wrong size is because i bought the wheel/tire combo from a guy that drove a civic, i have been driving with these tires for about 20K miles now

Slightly too short of a tire.

Your speedo will say that you are going faster than you really are. It also gives you less rim protection, decreased interor comfort, and it looks funny since it's the wrong size.

Behold...the Wheel of Fortune ...
..oh yea..No, its does not affect your *speedo or tech*..all that is measured *before* the wheels... but in reality..you will drive slower (then shown on speedo) and waste gas...

I have 205/40/16 (came like that from previous owner) the speedometer is about 3-4 miles higher than actual speed when i tested on the freeway... and it does make the car look a lil funky.

I have calculated my speedometer error with 205/50-15 tires to be about 4mph off at highway speeds... 205/40-16 would be even more error.

so i'm actually going slower than i thought, no wonder why i've never gotten a speeding ticket, thought it was just good luck, so how is all this gonna affect my odometer? do i have a few miles on there that i actually shouldn't have?
