was it worth it?
i bought a 99 integra gsr with 39000mi for 1500. for the 1500 it also included the labor to do a complete rebuild, drop it in and get it running. the original motor had a hole in it from boosting too much with a stock motor so he gave me another b18c1 block to use. the interior was in great condition except for 1 seam coming apart on the front leather seat and speakers missing. the body needs a few dings dents and scratches tooken out along with a paint job to make it perty. so far i have spent 3500 on rims, tires, wires, plugs, belts, clutch kit, cai, plenty of machining and various dealer parts. i figure i will spend another 500 to get it running and 2000 on body work and a system. my question is was it worth it? does a rebuilt motor last as long as a factory if it is all done right? by the way i didnt rebuild it with hiperformance parts other than an exedy stage 1 clutch, fujita cai ,nex-o rims and nexen tires. trying to build a reliable everyday driver.
So basically you're looking at seventy-five hundred total for a low mileage rebuilt 99 gsr with a couple upgrades... if you have a competant mechanic doing the rebuild, sounds like a pretty decent deal to me.
