Icon2 without power steering

I noticed a lot of Integras for sale does not have power steering. I know we are talking about a old car, so here is my question.

In most cases, is it where it's broken and the owners don't want to get it fixed? What that non-assisted feel? Or somewhere in between?

Also without PS, how does it drive? I've driven a 88 Civic without PS, but not sure how the Integra would drive as a DD. Can someone offer their opinion? Will it get old fast?

Yes, I can try it out. But I don't want to waste the owner's time.

TIA

the only hard part is turning the wheel at a dead stop. once you get moving even just a little bit it's easy. it still takes a little bit of effort but nothing a grown man shouldnt be able to handle.

Exactly, if you Need p/s on a civic/integra you're basically a girly man. Its a more direct feel if you ask me- more work at low speed for sure. Edit: I DO still have my a/c(nice and cool) And cruise control, though. I eliminated p/s after it kept leaking-

I dont have P/S or A/C pretty much because of weight and as bumpstick said you have a better feel of the road. I barley notice not having p/s and its easy to cope with.
NOW on the other hand, not having A/C sucks! I wouldnt recommend anyone to remove it hahahaha but thats just me

I looped my power steering and removed my A/C and cruise control.

I love not having power steering you can feel the road better, car just feels more solid.

Not having A/C sucks, I need to find all my parts and figure out how to put it back in.

I removed Cruise control (to go for a tucked look) but just found out you can tuck it so I will probably be putting that back as well.

Only issue about not having P/S is when your at a dead stop it takes a little muscle, but if you start to roll a little and get the wheels movin' it makes it easier.

"I love feeling my driveway"
"picking up my little girly friend down the street with no PS feels great"
"I love the feel of the Long Smooth, Soft Road".

way to much ricer action in here for me. all I have to say is the above comments makes me sick, don't drove without PS unless you have a MANUAL rack. not having a PSP doesn't make you look cool. lates

The only hard part about not having power steering is parallel parking. Otherwise its not that big of a deal. I love the extra space in the engine bay and enjoy not having to look at it anymore.

most of the older Honda's have speed sensitive power steering, once you are above a certain speed, rack assist is cut off anyway, and it's just a manual rack, might as well leave it, it really only works when you are in a parking lot anyway. once that speed control valve diverts all the fluid, it really makes no difference if it's power or not

power steering racks are different than manual racks, a power steering rack will be harder to turn without assist than a manual rack

a honda rack is really just a manual rack with added hydraulic pistons to help move it, you are thinking of a domestic car with conventional non rack and pinion steering

in my expereince as a technician, power racks have a quicker gear ratio to utilize the power assist. may be different with honda. not sure

For those who are ok with no PS. Can you tell me your wheel-tire size?

I test drove a 88 Civic DX with no PS, and it was ok, but it had 13" wheels on 165 or 175.

Yes, I read the link above about PS. Thanks.

Now think, is worth to take appart the PS?
Do you guys think about the "performance" part people talk about or just for a better look of the engine bay?

if it is working and not leaking I dont think it is worth taking it off. I think it is mostly done for the look in the bay and laziness. But in my case I would prefer to keep the PS in case I do have someone else driving my car like other family members and if I do need to return my car back to stock I still have it on.

Im running 205/55/15 on my teg.

I did it mostly for the extra space in the engine bay. Much easier to work around a motor without an extra hose running across the bay.

Not that I have a Teg but my accord with 245s is pretty alright if you ask me. With the pump on, belt off it's takes effort at a stop but with the hoses looped with a breather, it's damn well easy besides a teeny bit of armbmuscle required.
considering the extra weight that should mean something.
