Default why would someone do that...?

I went to go check my pugs and wires cause i personally havent changed them since i bought the car 2 months ago. I noticed there was some $hit in the female end of the wires that connects to male end of the plug, i scraped it out and it was silicone of some sort? what the helk would that be in there for and should i do anything about it? i did clean them out so none of them had any dibris in them. just wondering if thats a trick or someones stupid idea to fix a problem....

Was it anti sieze? Maybe they went a little overboard with it and said screw just putting it on the threads, lets cover the whole plug?

It's dielectric grease. It helps so when the next person to take the plug wires off pulls off the plug instead of ripping the core out on the tip of the plug, forcing you to buy new wires. It's fine and actually what you should do unless you plan on taking out your plugs every couple of months.
