when should i shift??
this is noob question but whatever , highschool drags is coming up and i know im going but when im racing should i shift at the highest rpm them motor is a stock GSR header and intake, but i wondering this question for awhile because it seems like at about 7000rpm it doesnt keep on pulling hard or maybe it does but how should i shift in a race what would give the best e/t times?

umm do you have a stock cluster? if its all stock shift at the stock redline which should be 8200...and if you say your car doesnt pull after 7000rpm then something is definetly wrong.
man, cant get more of a noob question than this...

I actually answered you seriously, but I think you should go study linguistics instead of going to the track while you are still in school. There's your sarcasm...kinda.

aight whatever **** you guys, i was just confused if redlining it was nessecary but yeah i know judging somebody else makes you a better person...btw yeah i am a ****ing noob idc
Relax noob, your going to get banned if you keep it up! But yes shift at 8,100, and if that GSR is having issues at 7,000 RPM, I wouldn't be racing it, unless you want to get clowned on, cuz you blew up on the track!

all those cars you mentioned arent even in a GSR's class. You cant compare a ****in $30,000 car to a $5,000 integra. With a gsr you race swapped hatches, new si civics, type S, stock wrx, stock gst, V6 ***** like tiberons etc etc. Thats what I did when i was bolt ons.
When to shift depends on what you're trying to accomplish.
For the fastest rate of acceleration, wait until it's approaching redline, and shift as close to redline as you can.
For the maximum fuel economy, shift at the lowest RPM you can which doesn't result in lugging the engine after the upshift.
Stock redline on a '94-01 GS-R is 8100.

A stock B18C1 doesn't have a traditional "optimal" shift point for acceleration because the power doesn't drop enough before redline.
they all said it already if it doesn't pull at 7k then something must be wrong...the gsr power band ends at 7600 i believe but take it up to 8k and your v-tec should scream at 6k...just shift fast and don't grind..that is basically it to get a good shift
