i.m trying to find out what the stuff protecting the cut out for the exhaust is. i'm interested in getting some to protect my bumper from the N1. & does anyone know where to get it? i.m guessing home depot or something.

Thermal mesh tape? Looks like it. Im just speculating tho.

 

Honestly I think it kinda looks like a piece of carbon fiber.

 

u don't need that. my evo is grazing the bumper practically, and the bumper is fine.

 

It looks like something you'd use to patch a hole in an exhaust pipe.

 

yeah i thought it was some kind of thermal taping.

it looks to have some kind of mesh like/carbon fiber like texture... anyways they made some of those "metal accent" kits for VW's I think.. its probably the same stuff.. it just tapes on... my exhaust system muffler/tip is really close to the back bumper.. haven't had any problems so I don't see a point in that plate/tape thing..

 

go to a motorcycle shop, and ask for reflective heat tape. Shouldn't be too much $$$, but honestly, it's not needed, especially on a street car.
