vtec crossover
i have a ls-vtec (type r cams, and b16 pistons) and some sort of 2.5 inch piping, and i had a skunk2 megapower tip on it, you could faintly hear vtec crossover, well when i changed tips, i took my piping off from the flange at the rear control arm .
i drove like that (open piping, with stock cat, and dc 4-2-1 headers 2-piece)
i can hear vtec like crazy now,i put the piping and new tip back on and it sounds faint once again. could it be due to a leak at the 2piece header flange? or is it the piping/exhaust?

u should def be able to tell if its got an exhaust leak at the header, it'll make the car lose a lil power of course but yeah its gonna be more faint with a muffler but its not gonna make a power difference depending on how loud the crossover is. it should be a smooth transition into v-tec anyway, not like a crazy crossover with a huge noise difference or anything. is the car tuned bro?
Haha this is quite a hilarious post. I dunno about LS-vtecs but I had a b16A (in a 94 civic si hatch) and when it crossed over into vtec it was crazy, it sounded like a completely different engine and I loved the noise.
But really, as long a your check engine light isn't on and you don't have some other strange problems you should be fine.
I forgot to mention I had stock exhaust and a short ram intake. From the content of your post I must assume that you do not want a stock exhaust though haha.

im not saying it does, but you can def. feel a difference when u have just the piping and cat to the rear wheel.
with the muffler back on, it feels so restricted its not even funny.
i could spin all of second gear with the muffler off, and now it does a long chirp/light spin instead with the muffler on.
