Default VAFC Question

With the new NY emission laws, about having an automatic failure if the ecu is throwing any cel codes. This is for OBDII only, but since I have a 01' looks like I'll have to deal with this stuff. So, my question is, has anyone experienced any problems with cel codes after installing one of these? Thanks

um.. don't waste your money unless you have cams & intake mani or even turbo.. and if you're turbo i'd get a stand alone.

Actually, I've been tuning a lot of relatively stock cars lately with AFC's and they do quite well at cleaning up the midrange. Peak power isn't greatly affected, but it's definately worth the investment assuming you have access to a dyno.

If you start modding out the GSR(obd2b) with anything more than the very basics... then you will need an OBD1 conversion to avoid CEL's with the VAFC or not.

I'm planning on nothing extreme. My plans are just to do all the basic bolts on available (including IM/TB) and some mild cams, such as ITR. Nothing where i would have to increase the compression and will not be able to go turbo for a long time. So, thats why i am just going to use a piggyback, and not go with the standalone. Of course i'm going to buy these items before i get the VAFC because tuning a stock car is stupid because it was tuned fromt he factory.

I would consider these basic bolt ons, if not can you tell me what CEL codes i would be getting? What I would need to do to correct them? Will getting tuned cause any cel codes to be thrown? Thanks for all the help
