Using Screwdriver to find TDC?

Using Screwdriver to find TDC?
I took off my lower timing belt cover and recently I have been sticking a screwdriver down in the sparkplug hole to find TDC. Is the timing mark on the cover the same spot where the piston is actually at the top. Or do you guys think that I should go through the trouble of taking off my crankshaft pulley and reinstalling the timing cover. Thanks
