used autometer tech~RPM's is off??
someone gave me a used tach( which it was already off ) and just got my autometer memory tachometer installed the other night... when its at idle its only 500 RPM's off ( i.e. my tach in the car will read 1,000 and the autometer tach reads 1,500) then when i drive, it seems that the faster i go the more the tach is off? (i.e. car tach reading 4,000 RPM and the autometer reading 6,500 RPM) is this a problem that can be fixed or is it just broken? thanks

The AutoMeter is reading about 1.5 times faster than the car's tach. I'm betting that the 2 wire loops inside the tach that make it set for an I4 engine were not cut like they were supposed to be. I bet the AutoMeter tach thinks it's reading a V6 or something.
Best bet would be to hook up a test tach (an auto store or auto shop might be able to do it) or hook up another aftermarket tach and see which one is reading correctly and which one is off.
