you'll most likely blow your auto tranny if you try to go turbo setup with it

I'd convert to 5spd first I mean what's the fun of a turbo if the car is auto. But then again thats just me, I tihnk there is someone on this board who converted his auto to a 5spd and went turbo.

In competitive 1/4 drag racing, and auto car will be better. A HELL of a lot more consistant. Unless you are a pro who shifts perfectly, and the correct RPM, every time... the auto will be more consistant.

Not to mention killer 60ft times if you can spool the turbo and then launch.

Buttttttttt... I gotta add the but. For daily driving, the 5 speed will be MUCH funner!

No, because with an auto, you dont' have to lift to shift.... meaning you are on the gas even when the car is shifting.

I had to make the switch from auto to manual. Your auto tranny will be taking a beating as well as sapping HP. Sooner or later, you are going to get the tranny swap either from malfunction or desire.

If you don't know how to drive stick, just get it and learn. Auto turbo sucks compared to stick.

An auto turbo teg vs a manual turbo teg with all the same component will always loose (given that the manual driver is competent). Consistency isn't an issue when the tranny just straight up sucks

But if you want to beef up your auto, buy a torque converter, upgrade your valves work and be prepared to spend a GRIP. The totaly will probably come out to a manual swap price.

the only holding me back from the 5 speed swap is the lack of funds... i don't work and i go to college.

3rd gear on dynos equal closer to a 1:1 ratio. so best to do them in 3rd
manual dyno in 4th becuase that is as close to a 1:1 as you can get.
plus i know for a fact my car makes more power in4th on the dyno then 3rd, i got into a fight with the guy that ran the dyno contest at NOPI and showed him up becuase i knew my car and he thought he knew. . . . turned out i won the all motor class becuase of that last 4th gear pull over the prior 2 3rd gear pulls

Then I suggest you don't do anything until you get the funds.

If your tranny blows you are going to need a couple grand to fix it anyways. But if you wait until your tranny blows, you are in a precarious situation because you are carless.

If you can't afford it, just work hard and save money for it. I say get the swap and drive around for a little while. The price of a turbo kit or the component's of a DIY turbo kit are only getting cheaper.

Don't get yourself into a hole. Be patient and it'll pay off

turbo auto is not that bad. just don't take your car to the drag track and it will last you a long long time..

oh yeah..do yourself a favor and get an tranny cooler if you do go turbo..you can find one in the junkyard fairly cheap and it will help prevent your tranny from going kaboom..

trannys dont cost a couple grand . . **** a Spoon tranny with JDM final drive brand new shipped is only $1700.
a reg auto tranny from a teg is a couple hundred bucks.
dude you wont have any probs, you just wont put the power down that you would with stick . no biggie. either or will work .

i already took that precaution, i'm running on a hayden tranny cooler and neo synthetic atf. I was thinking about using maybe Redline Racing ATF.
