tranny help!
i changed the passenger side axle today... and had a little tranny fluid leak... i was going to replace the fluid but when taking out the vss, i unbolted the wrong bolt... so that bolt fell loose and was just sitting on top of the tranny and i could not pick it out with my fingers... so i unbolted the right one... and i pulled the vss out... took a little bit of force to get it out and when i pulled it out, i accidentally knocked the smaller bolt off the top, and now i believe it's stuck in the tranny...
has this happened to anybody else before? other than taking the tranny out and disassembling it... is there another way to get the bolt out?

Not me.
If the bolt fell into the VSS hole, get a magnet and fish it out.

yeah i tried fishing for it with some magnets... but it was hard. didn't come up with anything since the magnets were getting stuck to the gears... then the magnets got stuck just out of reach... i guess i'm SOL... just gotta pull the tranny and send it in to a shop... i'm not versed in working with the tranny
you know they sell magnets attached to a retractable pole.
i've had this happen before, what worked for me was them metal stick claw thing, you can get them at any autostore.
if that doesn't work, you can open up the tranny your self it's not that hard. beats getting raped by a shop any day. there's a few thread on h-t about tranny rebuilds, you can use that as a ref if you dont have a helms

yeah, thanks for the info... but i ended up dropping it off at a shop because i'm kinda of restricted in terms of time since my new training starts tomorrow and i won't be able to leave base for about a month or so.
