Default THROWING CODE 22 VTEC PRESSURE SWITCH

sorry for the caps i usally type like this. info not critcs please.

I HAVE A 94 GSR WITH TYPE R INTERNALS FROM TOP TO BOTTOM AND I AM THROWING CODE 22 WHICH I CHANGED OUT WITH THREE DIFFERENT VTEC PRESSURE SWITCHES AND IT STILL IS THROWING THE CODE HERE AND THERE. WHAT ELSE CAN IT BE. SOME PEOPLE TELL ME MAYBE IT HAS TO DO WITH MY KNOCK SENSOR. I SAY BUT HOW. I AM REAL GOOD WITH CARS BUT THIS ONE IS TRIPPING ME OUT I JUST BROKE THE MOTOR IN LIKE A WEEK AGO. IT DOESN'T ALWAYS COME ON WHEN I AM IN VTEC ONLY LIKE WHEN I HIT VTEC THE SECOND OR THIRD TIME. WEIRD. I CHANGED THE ND MOTOR OIL OUT AT 500 MILES AND HAVE NOT CHANGED THE MOTOR OIL AGAIN YET WHICH I HEARD I WAS SUPPOSE TO CHANGE IT AFTER I HIT ANOTHER 500 WHICH MAKE IT A TOTAL OF 1000 MILES ON THE MOTOR CAN THIS BE THE CAUSE. I WILL BE CHANGING MOTOR OIL TONIGHT OR TOMORROW. PLEASE HELP. THANX

Sounds like you arent getting enough oil pressure. Maybe you're getting enough that you aren't tripping the dummy light but not enough to make the vtec pressure switch happy. Could be an internal leak, a clogged filter, or a dented oil pan/pickup. Probably a few other things it might be, but I would suggest putting a oil pressure gauge where the vtec pressure switch goes and see how much oil pressure its reading off.

First of All you must be sure that your Vtec solenoid is working.

Unplug the the plug that goes into the green solenoid. you gotta know which is neg(black duh!) and which is the power(Blue i think). get wires and tap them with connectors and plug the connector ends into the solenoid. Like i Said before make sure the connectors are correctly inserted....one pin is the power(blue) and one is the neg(black).

Ground the black wire and tap the blue wire on your positive battery terminal. You should hear a clicking noise which means your vtec solenoid works. If it does not click then obviously your solenoid is broken bro!

Do that first and be sure you have sufficient oil in your motor. And be sure your wires are not mickey mouse, I have seen Vtec solenoids not activating because of poor wiring!(not enough voltage)

If your solenoid is working it can be that the ECU thinking that the motor was NO vtec pressure valve and therefore it throws an CEL,.

Try to bypass the CEL.

Do this by connecting or crossing, D6 ( vtec soleniod) and A4 ( vtec pressure valve) wires. you can simply splice the wires and connect the 2 together or do what i did (because i hate splice wires) take a paper clip unfolded it and just plugged it right in to A4 and D6 on the ecu connecters.

Before you try this be sure your Vtec Solenoid works! Be Sure your Wiring is good! Be sure you have oil!

thanx for the help on the code. i cleand out the vtec solinoid (wasn't that dirty), changed the motor oil put mobil 1 5w30. no more code. but when i punch it it smokes in the engine bay i checked front of motor no leaks. it is smoking form the back i thought i saw oil drops on the cat. what oil can leak from the back of the motor to cause it to smoke from that area. any help will do.

--could it be i have to much fuel pressure. what would that cause.

i have a aem fuel rail with b&m feul pressure regulator and gauge. what is the fuel pressure suppose to be with the vacum on and also what is it when its off on a 95 gsr. thanx

Leaky valve cover gasket....fuel pressure has nothing to do with it.

you might have a leak from your solenoid, try replacing the gasket on the solenoid or throw some hondabond on it.

Leaky solenoid isnt going to be dripping on the cat. It drips down the front side of the tranny. Oil filter or oil pan gasket are the most likely places. The oil pressure sensor could be leaking around it....and if its non of those then its almost gotta be the head gasket.
