Alright, I need some advice from you HT heads.
I recently installed a set of Koni Yellows and SRR LCA's on my 94 LS Sedan.
I have H&R Race springs matched with the Koni's and after getting them installed, the height of the car is totally off. The driver side is lower than the passenger side of the car.
I previously had the H&R Race springs on the stock shocks and the ride height was perfect..even all the way around (well not even, but it was proportionate to the drop according to H&R). Now after the shop installed the Yellows and LCA's I noticed that the height was different.
Now, I bought the Koni's used off someone else and the same thing with the LCA's. The mechanic told me its possible that the Yellows were blown or something thats why the height is way off. When he installed them he said he had to do some "modifications" to get them to fit the car, since the stock washers and etc..didnt fit the Yellows. He says the only solution is to put a rubber spacer on one of the rear shocks to even out the ride.
I personally think that they mixed up the springs and ended up putting the front springs on one side of the car and the rear springs on the other side of the car..what do you guys think?
I ended up paying a damn arm and a leg to get them installed (400 CDN) because according to them, my bolts and bushings were seized etc...and all the custom modification they had to do to get them to fit the car. I say its all bullshit and these ******* are trying to rip me off. I took it back today and they said theyre gonna have to charge me again when they put that rubber spacer on to even out the ride height?
Im thinking of just throwing the stock shocks back on..
Anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong with my car????
Any help is appreciated!!!

sounds about right for everything (including having to do all the extra work).
there are ways to tell if the shocks are blown, this should have been done when you first received them.
how old are the springs? I suggest stepping up to some GC's

okay has this shop ever installed Konis before? Of course the stock washers don't fit the Konis. That's why they come with their own hardware. Did they by any chance install these? Or did they just use some junk they had laying around the shop.
Also what about the spring perches are they at the same height all around? If they were when you bought them, maybe the shop dicked around w/ the perch height settings?

I told them to put the spring perches to the lowest setting...could that be the problem?
I was told they've done Koni's many times..but it was just that I didnt have the hardware with mine since I bought them used.

Where was the hardware that the previous owner used?
I don't think drilling the factory hardware is a good idea, especially on the bumpstop plate (the tapered washer that fits on the factory shocks). Since the Koni shock rods are not tapered, but rather have that small welded piece and a regular flat washer, I don't think the factory tapered washer would work very well.
Call up Koni North America and see if they can send you a hardware set for the shocks.

Thanks for the help Patrick and Tweakmeister. But I think the only problem is that passenger rear shock is on a higher perch setting..I took a picture of both rear shocks so you guys can see what Im talking about...

Picture A

Picture B
Notice that in Picture A, you cant even see the springs at all, and it seems to be set at a higher perch? Correct me if Im wrong...
In Picture B, it looks like its set a lot lower and the springs are visible..
Do you guys think that could be the problem?
Or maybe its because the mechanic cut the bumpstops on the fronts to make it seem lower than before?
Excuse the rustiness of my undercarriage..the previous owner of my car did not take care of it at all..I wouldnt mind cleaning up some of those break lines etc, and get rid of the ghetto zip ties.
Im still so confused!!!

Left side has the gas filler neck on it so it blocks most of the spring. It looks like both sides are on the same perch setting, lowest since there are no grooves that I can see. To make sure see if there are any grooves for the circlip to sit in that are visible or measure it... there are 3 perch setting on the rear konis (regular ones) about 5/8" apart. also could be the springs are not seated properly, this would make some noise however.
What kind of height difference do you have? If it's with 1/2" I would drive it for a while and it should even out, my prokits and yellows were uneven and after a bit on the road it evened out. You can drive with a full load of people to accelerate this.
If seriously in doubt have someone else look at it.
$400 is too much considering that your SRR control arms have the bushings in them, you just have to pay for new bolts and the labour to install everything. If they made you pay for bushings then you should ask for your money back.

bumpstops do not affect ride height at all.
Also check to make sure they removed the brake line brackets from the stock front shocks and installed them on the front Konis. If not, the front forks can slip upwards on the shock body, making it sit lower than it's supposed to, and the shock bodies can possibly hit the CV axles.

Again, thanks for all of your help guys!
Stumpy:I'll give it some time and drive it more...maybe it'll settle a little bit, but hopefully that solves it. I havent really driven the car much since getting them installed last week.
