Default State Ref Ticket help and question

well here it is guys i already searched and nothing is really helping my situation out.

First off i got popped for doing "90" on 65 by a cycle CHP unit on the 5N towards burbank in traffic, june8 at 7:30 pm. I get a violation for that. Officer notices the SAFC on the steering column and goes is there anything else in the vehicle that is modified? I told him kindly "no". Tells me to pop the hood, sees nothing to the naked eye but a b20, when its really a b20vtec. Had the oem heatshiled on the jdm ITR header, so thats saved me. But saw the adjustable cam gears and says that is illegal. So gives me a violation for that "altered emissions system."

So long story short get popped for 2 violations: speeding and 27156 (b). Ticket has the white sticker on the back, saying state ref certificate required, no officer sign-off

I get the bail amount on the 6/22 and to my suprise its $196. I have the citation number along with the violations. They are not allowing me to sign up for driving school until the correction and payment are sent. My question if i just pay the bail amount and not see the state ref for the correction, what will the outcome be?

From what i hear from previous topics people were paying over 4 bills for the emission violation (illegal motor swaps, etc, etc) My last ticket was 5 yrs ago, and i never had gotten popped with a state ref ticket. I mean i have my backup LS motor on deck just in case.

When i just send in the bail amount, will that make me eligible for traffic school (need to take it for insurance purposes)?

looks like you might have to go to state ref

if you do you are basically screwed, the b20 is a light truck motor and you cannot state ref that motor in a car

try paying the fine and possibly getting the ticket signed off by a cop or ref by a visual inspection

ohh alright. thanks man. Got another homie's opinion, he said just pay the fine and just sign myself up for traffic school. Cause i know that my driving record is good. ANd the last ticket i got was 5 yrs ago. so it automatically makes me eligible for traffic school.

I doubt you'll be able to sign up for traffic school without taking care of the state ref. because the courts can only allow you to go and you have to pay an extra $25 fee (last time I got a ticket) just to be able to sign up for traffic school. You won't pass a visual with the state ref. because they will notice the B20 stamp on the engine right away. If you don't go and just pay the bail then you'll have a point on your record and if you ever get pulled over again you could be in even more **** when the run your plates and notice you still have an open violation for the state ref.

well your bail amount is for the speeding violaton and for the "illegal modification.sorry to laugh.. but LOL. man you got a state ref because of your cam gear wich "by law is illegal". damn dont you know that in cali cops are punk asses, thas why you gotta hide everything, even cam gears. actually your lucky thas the only citation you got, because, like stated earlier a B20 is cinsidered a truck motor and is illegal by CA law and emissions, plus yours is b20 vtec. damn... consider your self your lucky Bcuz you got a dumb officer that day. so i reccomend putting the ls back in with the right ecu and reffing it OR As far as just paying the fine i heard you can ditch the state reff inspection and smog by "forfitting" the citation and paying an (X) amount in fine ( i think this is the 4 bills that people were paying for in ur research)! Did the cycle cop tell you you couldnt drive your car till it was reffed or only if it was going to a shop??? your car is considered "a polluter" with the ticket you got, if you get pulled over again i think theyll tow it. does anyone now if thas a myth that cops tell people??? well good luck man cuz when i got state reffed IT SUCKED!!! PM me if u have ?'s

shitty i got the same thing. Basically except I didn't even have illegal parts. I thought my headers were illegal. There dc sport headers with a carb sticker wtf. Anyways i've been dealing with this for a while. I've failed smog 5 times at the state ref. My car pollutes so much for some reason and i don't know why just a gsr with header and exhuast. Numbers on my car flux back and forth from passing to gross polluter numbers. I changed the cat and o2 and my shop is confused what is wrong why its not passing. I gotta take it to the dealer see what wrong.
Anyone have this problem pulloting so much before and crazy modification.

My citation if i dont get the ref to sign off i belive is like 1500 no way its gonna be 100 some dollars. COPS in cali are gay I didn't even have illegal parts then my car doesn't pass.

I think your not supposed to drive your car during this period too since it says that on the lil sticker for state ref. Also i thinkg you can't register your car until you pass and are signed off at the state ref.

been dealing with the state ref too long

welll damn homies, thanks for the input. I would try and hide the cam gears next time but i can't find the right cover to hide them. I say he is a dumb cop because if he knew what he was looking at there is a vtec solenoid staring right in his face. Good thing we grinded off DOHC VTEC and resprayed it wrinkle paint. Looks like i extended the ticket from august to october. Gives me enough time to handle everything. LS is going in by the end of the month. IF anyone else has opinions, bump this **** up!!!

lol i got pulled over by in Glendale near GCC too and the cop asked me what i got and i said jus a intake and an exhaust. He tells me to pop my hood, so i pop it. I point to the intake(AEM) and im like "bam...CARB approved" he's like "good enough." Im thinking to myself "thats right bitch" but gives me a ticket for speeding and lets me go.

its always glendale cops that pull you over...pigs are always after imports left and right. my friend got pulled over because his car smelled like ****. he had a test pipe on so he told the cop hes burning oil and the cop let him go..so i guess thats the best excuse having a test pipe on.

I got pulled over two months ago and was sent to the ref. So I called the court house to see what the bail is and it is $351 dollars and the ticket remains open. If a cop runs your plates and see's that you have this ref ticket still open he will pull you over again.

well i again stating that the check was returned because there was no proof of correction. In short it states i can pay the bail amount of 351 or an adjusted bail amount with valid corrections of 196.00. my thing is what should i do??? i know it won't be worth paying to swap the stock motor back in and **** like that cause it will cause more than the bail amount put together. any help will be cool!! thanks in advance

omg, im not alone. I got hit w/ "illegal emissions mod" for my body color matching, no carb# intake that I had on. @ first the cop asked me if I had a hole in my exaust and than he finally popped my hood and wrote me up for that. State Ref.

Than I go to get it smogged w/ the OEM intake and it fails on emissions. Now I've got to put a new O2 and a new cat and than try again.

My Q is similar... Ive got until the end of the month to pay the fine...

If I pay the fine but I dont have it smogged by the state ref. until afterwards will they even accept the bail AND will I be okay at least until I get pulled over again? how does it work? Is my case disposed including the outstanding smog fail or whats the deal here??

Obviously I need to pay the county money and get proof of passing smog. What should my course of action be!?!?

why not go to court and ask for an extension...i went through 3 extensions (long story) on my ref ticket before they made me pay it off

my friends keep extending and extending the ticket. But imma just swap in the ls motor and say f*ck it. Not worth trying to pay 351 and still have an open ticket. i think u can request an extension on the internet.

I got mines signed off by one of my friends that knows some holes in the system for 400$ but my state ref ticket says a court date on it so I have to go pay the fix it fee and show them that it’s written off before that date? Or whenever I come around to doing it?.
