The weight difference is minimal, however the price difference isn't
There was a discussion on this in the appearance forum about the real deal or knock offs, and this one guy replied "I don't necesarrily buy things for the name , i buy them for quality" He said most of the things on his car are all name brand but Rota are quality and he would put them on his car as cheap alternatives
Honeslty it's up to you if you want the spoons for the authenticity and the extra tiny bit of weight(not much) then get them, most poeple just hate on rotas because so many poeple have them.
I am one to buy name brand stuff, but I mostly look at the wuality and i think in this situation the Rotas would be fine because I would rather spend the extra $ under the hood

If you have the money spend it, if you don't rota's are the route to go with!
Personally the Spoon SW388's are the way to go if your a pure JDM fanatic...
Most people can't tell the difference from the two anyway

SW388's and Regamaster Evo's are meant to be used as track wheels, hence the high quality and light weight. If you have them and don't use them on the track, or even worse, if you take them off for track use because "they're too expensive and I don't want to mess them up" then you are a true ricer. They were never meant to be cool-looking or stylish wheels, they were meant to be whored out on a track.
It's kinda like people buying big@$$ 4x4 SUV's and never taking them offroad.

the weight difference is minimal, dont spoons weigh in about 8 pounds a wheel, when rotas come in at 13ish? thats close to 5 pounds, and thats a decent bit.
i have black rota slips on my car, because they are cheap and can take a decent beating, in the future though, im looking to upgrade to some real spoon wheels, cause ive heard they can take more of beating, its your money bro

Spoon SW388 15x6.5 = 8.6 lbs
Rota Slipstreams 15x6.5 = 11.9 lbs.
3.3 lbs difference, 13.2 lbs total difference per set.

Thanks Patrick, here is where you need to decide if it's worth it to you or not. Some may say an extra 1k(not sure on exact price) isn't worth the weight while other's want every edge they can get. Sorry I used the word minimal weight difference, because that can vary from person to person

yea as far as the slips vs the spoons then what would make them more durable...are they made differently or somthing like that or is it more of the name that your paying for?

right idea, but kinda opposite... forging is much stronger, but not necesarily lighter... just usually lighter

i just got some rotas from Danger69 on these forums, great price shipped and quick shipping. he sells tons of them on ebay and im sure u will get a better price if you IM him on here.
im very happey with the rotas, we will see how strong they are once i hit a curb

rota slips= about 110 per rim x 4 440
spoon= about 450 per rim x 4 (hopally u dont own a 3 wheel integra) 1620
saving 1180 for a few pounds=pricless and cost effective
i have 3 sets of the slips for various purposes and i wouldnt have another rim for the price and qualty. def worth it all the way

I would rather get the rotas because (1) they are significantly cheaper and (2) like the earlier posts states, both are pretty much identical. Whether one is signficantly stronger that the other, I wouldn't worry much about that because unless you are doing some super extreme driving, the rotas would be okay (has anyone on this board ever totally fucked up their rotas autoXing or dragging?). Save the extra $1500 or so, and get some internals (camshafts, cam gears, IM). When you think about it, you could either have a car with some real spoon rims, or have a car with some rotas, an aftermarket IM, a set of camshafts, and a set of cam gears (maybe even more parts). Now which one would be quicker? Just my opinion.
I've never been a fan much of the way the spoon's look. How they perform is different. Although it's not a big performance difference from the Rota's. For the people that only want the best performance parts for their car, I agree that the spoons are a good way to go. For the people that just want to change rims to upgrade the look and performance, than rotas should do fine. However, some rotas knockoffs look very cheap next to the real thing. Case in point, the MF10 copy. The real mugen wheels look like solid gold next to the rotas.
