Default Skunk 2 short shift problems

I just installed the skunk2 short shifter on my 99 gsr. My question is, it is extremely tough going up and down w/ the shifter(in and out of gears). Going left and right is smooth as butter, but up and down it is so tight. Under the car, I put teh large spacer on the passenger side of the car. I also fit both of the washers on, but it was an extremely tight fit. Could that being so tight be my problem? I am thinking it is, I am just too tired right now to try to fix it.

Also, has anyone cut the shifter down at all? It seems sooo high up, especially w/ the skunk2 ****, because it doesnt spin down the shift very far at all.

Thanks...

Great thanks, i'll do that tomorrow morning. I wonder if I should take out a washer, or just loosen the locknut.

Finally, how would you go about adding more threads to the shift rod? Could I do it myself w/ tools found at sears/autozone, or do I need a professional to do this?

Don't cut it, that ruins its ergonomics... Short throw shifter does not necessarily mean short length shifter, its the throw that is lessened. I love my Skunk2, and the **** is a counterweight as well, please don't hack that excellent design up

Wow, I loosened it maybe half a turn and what a difference. So so smooth into gears now. What an awesome combo.

Yea I am not gonna hack it, I have come to love it
