yes, I think the Si does have the same gear ratios as the R. I don't know if it's really worth it or not... That's a lot of money and work for a tranny that'd still have an open diff when you get all done.

I know for auto-x'ing, I wish that I had the shorter 2nd gear for almost every course I do. Of course I race in ST, though, and swapping trannies isn't allowed.

You're better off with the Type-R gearbox. I've got one in my car (I run E Prepared SCCA Solo II) and that thing is awesome.

A Si(B16A) tranny has the same 2-5 gears as ITR tranny the 1rst gear is shorter on a B16A tranny.

No, ALL the gear ratios are the same in a USDM B16A tranny and a USDM Type-r tranny.
You can get a Type-r tranny here brand new in Toronto for $2000cdn. approx $1300Usd. Not sure how much a used one is.

Sorry I might get flamed for this but I was told at a Honda Dealership that the Civic SI Tranny's Have the B16a/Type R gear set with the 4.26 LS Integra Final. You ever drive a Civic SI they are so damn slow it makes since if you think about it. I have a 2000 LS Integra and wanted shorter gears cuz I'm doing LS/Vtec. So after doing much reserch I decided I wanted a SI or Type R. But the Type R is too much $!!!. But then I met this mechanic that seemed to know alot of detials about honda's that people are not sure on. Anyways I got GSR and I am very happy!!!! Took three 10ths off my qtr mile time Stk 15.8 after GSR Tranny 15.6

2000 LS Integra.... Mod's GSR Tranny, OEM USDM Type R Header, AEM Type R CAI, H&R Springs with KYB AGX Shocks and Skunk 2 Short Shifter... Coming Soon B16a Head, Type R Cams And Pistions Type R ECU!

The Si tranny also has a 4.40 final drive same as Gs-R and Type-r. The Si and Type-r have the exact same gear ratios except the R tranny has LSD. The Gs-R tranny only has the same first gear as the Si and R tranny.

That's what people think. But I have been told by very knowledgably sources that the SI Tranny's have a 426!

Well you may actually be right, however I have checked at many reputable web sites, and my friend who works at honda confirmed with me that the 98-00 Si uses a 4.40 final drive.

Anyone else have any idea?

well it seems as though this topic still rages on..... I recently went through about 2 months of research to find the best tranny for me. I managed to get FACTS from Honda of America that shows the SI and ITR tranny are differnet. First gear is different 3.307 to 3.230 SI to ITR respectfully. I know that some may read in the bullshit magazines that it is the same, and others may go to some site to find this out, but if you really want to know the FACTS call hinda direct and beg and plead with em to give you this info. It took me about a month before they would release this info to me. Either way you go I wish you luck!
