short shifter help

When installing a new short shifter, is it required that you remove the booth. I figure it's enought just to remove the shift ****. GIve me your opinions. THanks for the help!

i think you mean the shift boot? you don't have to remove it, we did mines with it still in tact, it might just be harder to find the hole at the top of the boot to feed the shifter through.
