Default RS v. LS

ok i have heard a lot of different things about the ls and rs chassis on the DC2 and wanted to know a few things. if they are true or not and i have searched.
first up options.
is the RS more stripped down less power options etc if so this is good for me
second
I have heard that the RS is the lightest of all the tegs in the DC2 line up another plus
third and final
the rs has a weaker chassis (i don't know how true this is i thought all the chassis were the same besides the itr)

Thanks for any help.
It seems like i want an RS but they are hard to find as a shell compared to the ls
if the thing about less weight is true this is why i would like to find an rs shell.

Ok, ok, ok...Just to inform you, a DC2 is either a GSR, or ITR! And an LS, RS, GS, and SE are all DC4's... They are all structurally the same with the exception being that an RS, and ITR do not have sunroofs. Then it goes onto sway bar diameters and what not. Got it? I believe that I am mostly right, anyone else want to chime in?

rs/ls = dc4
rs doesn't have abs or sunroof/moonroof so that makes it pretty much lighter
that i know of its got the same chassis as the other dc's.
rs fo life..lol

Structually, they are all the same, but in terms of weight. All teg's have power options, but then, like 95integra said, RS's and iTR's dont have sun roofs, so, thats some weight right there. Also, if you want to get real technical, iTR has no moldings, but a lip kit.

Either way, no sunroof = less weight.

here is kinda another topic about the whole rs chassis thing i am in the process right now of building a turbo b16 and wanted to know if it would be easier to get a gsr chassis instead of an ls or rs and wire it for vtec.
the only thing though on the gsr chassis would i have to remove wires since i wouldent be using the equal length intake manifold or things like.
what would be my concers about wiring the car correctly.

I believe that, if you were to get a 94 chassis(any).. That it is pre-wired for vtec... However I may be wrong...

The RS is an excellent teg to have if you plan to go racing, and don't mind fewer options.....at a fraction of an ITR cost.

IT doesn't have power door locks, moonroof/sunroof, no ABS, no maplights, no cruise control. This makes it over 100 pounds lighter than a gsr, and lighter than a ITR even.
All RS' do come with A/C though

Where are you located?
There is a guy in jersey selling his 1996 RS with ITR transmission (lsd)...I think his name is "12 0z." on here...i can find the link for you if you're interested.

Also, if you search the archives this subject has been covered many times...though it is tricky cause it doesn't let you seach two letter words...or like "RS"

ya i have been using the search but i just couldent find anything and when i did it was like 300 things and i didnt really feel like having to sift though it all.

I will probably be looking for the car in december actually unless i can find a really good deal on one before I leave at the end of august for prep school

but if you could post up the link of the one in jersey it would be great to take a look at and see.

Thanks for all the help

You might also consider the 'Carbon Fiber Sunroof Plug'. Not only does it cut down tremendously on weight, but also looks awesome!

a rs is only about 50 pounds lighter than a ls or gsr integra
50 pounds is nothing and i would much rather have a teg with a sunroof and power everything for an added 50 pounds or so
the weight differences between all the integras are extreamly minamal they are all well within 75 pounds of each other from the lightest (rs) to the heavest (gsr)

in my helms for my 1991 integra a 5 speed rs 3 door is 2544 pounds and a is 2590
and in 3rd gen tegs the difference is also about 50 pounds

so your really better of just geting a ls

can you take a pic of the climate control...I would like to see how one looks without the A/C button cause I was under the impression that all 3rd gen integras came from the factory with A/C.
If your climate control has the a/c button, then it came with it, but was just removed by a previous owner perhaps.

if you want a great track car go for the RS is already got alot of stuff not in it, you dont have to worry about sunroof and in many cases is cheaper due to the lack of options, but me personally i enjoy some mild comfort and opted for the GS instead, good luck with whatever you choose

hmmm....are you sure?
I've just always thought that the 3rd gen integras all came with A/C as standard.
