Icon2 results from a compression test

Hey guys, just wondering about my results and what you guys think about it.

SET UP:
DC4
P8R HEAD STOCK
LS BLOCK, PR3 PISTONS ONLY
GSR TRANNY
B16 INTAKE MANIFOLD
RMF REPLICA HEADER NARROW B

RESULTS ARE:

CYLINDER 1: 155 PSI
CYLINDER 2: 160 PSI
CYLINDER 3: 170 PSI
CYLINDER 4: 165 PSI

I tested them twice and got the same number. What my question is, why is it so low, where should I really be sitting at for compression, what could be the problem for a low compression numbers, and what is the max variable between cylinders for psi? And, what would be for repairing?

The reason why I ask why are the numbers so low, is we tested another motor: d16z6

his results after 2 tests per cylinder, are:

cyl 1: 160 psi
cyl 2: 170 psi
cyl 3: 175 psi
cyl 4: 173ish psi

The motor looks like hell, but with those numbers, can he be ready for lets say, boost? Just another question for you guys. Hope to get some help here. thanks guys.

As you guys can see, he posted higher numbers than I did.

did you do the compression test correctly? as long as all 4 cylinders are similar than you shouldnt have anything to worry about.

I'm not sure what #'s that engine should be pushing out, but they do look good because they seem to be very close to each other.

Was the compression test done on a cold or warm engine?

I tested them cold. I thought that they would be higher....But it amazes me how that D16 pulled higher numbers than I did.

With the engine at normal operating temperature that should net you higher #'s. If you've got the time redo it.

hmmm....I will try it. Is there a reason why it could be slow also? With that set up, I am running a 16.1 @ 87 mph. I would think it would be faster...

My 9:1 turbo car does 180 across the board after 4 pumps! Try it warmed up, so there oil in the cylinder walls.

That could be driver error. Also power/weight ratio. Post your time slips so we can see everything.
