replacing wheel bearing.
I took my car to the shop for them to put on new brake pads (spring break, im relaxing) and my mechanic said my front left wheel bearing is going bad, that I'll need to replace it before inspection, because it wont pass. Can anyone explain to me how to go about this, because I dont have the money this second to pay for labor, when I can do it myself.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
You gotta press them in. Kind of a pain to do it yourself, take it to a shop and have them press on the new one into the hub. Then do the install yourself
its not an easy job just for anyone. youll need a good press. u will have to remove the knuckle from the susp; ie take the upper a arm ball joint loose, the lower ball joint, the brake caliper and then the axle. u might want to go ahead and buy a hub 2 cuz this is ur first bearing job and im sure u will damage the hub. so now u will have to press the hub out, remove the snap ring w/ snap ring pliers. press the old bearing out, press in the new bearing, reinstall snap ring. try to remove the old race from the old hub( this is where u might damage the hub) if u get it off then reuse it. if not replace it. since this is ur first time, this should take u roughly 2hrs with the right tools, longer if you dont. goodluck
