Default remote start accident!

damn, im so pissed off at myself. earlier today, i went to my work to pick up something i left there yesterday. i parked in the parking garage that was slightly inclined. since ive been having some issues with my parking brake, i decided to put my clutch into gear, in case my car decides to roll back and into the car behind me on the opposite parking lanes.

on my way back to the car, i forget that i put the car into gear. i usually dont. my remote start activated and the car starts jerking forward and i start to panic!

theres a concrete wall in front of my car... as well as a high concrete curb with a pipe in front of my bumper. so my car jerks its way up the high concrete curb. keep in mind that my car is dumped pretty low with a typeR lip. at the same time, the passenger side fender and bumper is jerking against the huge pipe and hitting against the wall. there goes my bumper and my fender!

dammit am i careless or what? many of my friends with remote start alarms have had stupid incidents with remote start alarms and the car in gear. im so pissed! the money i have to use to repair the damage couldve been used to repair other engine/mod issues i already have. GRRR!

just had to vent.

and accross to the other parking lot

if it makes you feel better, i saw this guy accidentally do it, but the thing is, it was a sidewalk with a whole bunch of cars parallel parked, and it just kept scooting the cars foward into the cars in front, ect.

this kinds stuff could have been prevented if not installed, this is why most installer wont even think about putting auto start on manual transmission ... you may think that u wont put ur car on gear, but there is always that one time you forget and look what happend ... hope you learned your lesson.

this is the reson why they dont usually put remote start on sticks. but it sucks what happened to your car. good thing no one got injured.

actually... my cousin is a pro at installations and he came up with an idea a bypass switch to prevent that from happening. just didnt get a chance to install one on my car yet. oh well.

thanks for the response, guys.

NO! That's why you get the Compustar alarm w/ remote start. It won't let you remote start it, if it's in gear. Only if it's in neutral. Boo to all the other brands!

around here they wont install it unless you have a automatic, i guess someone got hurt and the installers got sued so now none of the alarm installers will do it on a manual

ROFL

I've remote started my car into my garage plenty of times. It took about 2 months for me to learn to keep the car in neutral.

There's a reason that I like my Clifford alarm, you can't start the car unless you arm the car while it's still running. You see you hit a few buttons on the remote, leave the car in neutral with the e-brake pulled, hop out of the car and arm the alarm, the car shuts down...and when you come back and hit the autostart button it's already in neutral.
