Damn man, I thought it was just me but I have seen a lot of threads lately on about this rattle. I have a 96 GSR that does the exact same thing between those RPM and ONLY between those RPM. Let me know if you ever figure it out, I might just take it to Acura and have them do it because its beggining to get on my nerves! *subscribed*

Im not sure what your smoking but I dont think that has anything to do with it..if you guys still have the OEM headers. Im willing to bet money it has to do with the heatshield thats on that header or at least something with the header itself. I used to have the same noise only around those rpms and I got a new header not because of that but because of a different reason and the noise is gone.

You COULD just take the heat shield off but iron gets real hot real quick and its so close to your hood. Dont wanna think what could happen.

mine is the heatshield right under the shifter.. but I went around my car with a wrench and just tapped everything to see what's loose and once you hit the right heatshield it gets really obvious!

well if its the heat shield then i think it would of ratled the day you got the car, id say its the exhaust... as strange as it may sound i had the problem only for about a week, thats when i figured out that i actualy melted one of the honey comb peices in my catalytic... and suprisingly no check engine light..

Its not the heat shield around your headers, its the heat shield past your cat converter. Remove it or bend it a different way

Check the exhaust for rattles. Either have a friend rev the car to make the noise or lightly tap on the exhaust with a hammer to find the rattle.

mine does it at the same rpm especially on the highway, but it sounds like its definately coming from the rear. . .possibly the heat shield under the shifter, i have yet to remove it and see but it is quite annoying

On mine the bolts were loose causing the one on the headers to raddle, but it does have something to do with your exhaust system. If you can get it on a lift or some stands I would get under and start tapping things with a mallet or hammer to see if something doesn't sound right.

From what I have read raddles from the exhaust is pretty common on tegs for some reason..

I have a rattle also, and what it is. Is the header. sounsd like its commign from theback but its actually the front. Where the header combines on mine it is held on by 4 bolts in each corner, and the 1 corner keeps losening and it rattles like a mother fvcker. ***** so annoying and im too lazy to keep tightening it. ima just wait til i get the turbo manifold.

Although in this case the quote you mentioned is indeed idiotic, most GSRs (DC2 and DB8) have butterfly valves. Why would you put that in your signature?

seriously. however, i don't envy your living in calgary of all places. check your header/exhaust/cat shields when it gets into positive degree territory.
