question.?
ok i have a 94 ls motor and i got my cams regrinded but don't remember wat the spec was but the guy said it was a stage 2 street spec.. when i try putting on the cams on and adjust the valve.. the valve was set at .011 on the intake and .013 on the exhaust valve.. which i think is not normal and that is one question on wat a stock ls adjustment is suppose to be set at.. the person that regrinded the cams told me to set the exhaust valve at .008 and the intake valve at .006 which i did but the car ran real shitty and it struggles goin up rpm and backfires funny.. so then i switched it back to .011 and .013 and it made it run better but it still makes like a clicking noise... i never heard aftermarket or reground cams when put on a car but is it suppose to make like a loud clicking noise or is that a bad thing? and also can someone help me out of wat the valve adjustment should be at?
exhaust: .008 and intake: .006 sounds about right. Pretty sure that's what my Crower 403s are set at, which is just a little more then the factory spec, which is I think E: .007 & I: .005
Do you know the lift and duration of the regrinds? Do you have the b18b1 or b18a1.
B18B1:
For .050" tappet lift
Intake
opens at -16.5 ATDC
closes at 23.5 ABDC
Exhaust
opens at 33.0 BBDC
closes at -23.0 BTDC
Lobe separation: 114°
Duration at .050" lobe lift
intake: 187° .225
exhaust: 190° .225
B18A1:
For .050" tappet lift
Intake
opens at -21.0 ATDC
closes at 31.0 ABDC
Exhaust
opens at 33.0 BBDC
closes at -19.0 BTDC
Lobe separation 116°
Duration at .050" lobe lift
intake: 190° .225
exhaust: 194° .221
another thing, be sure that each the piston is at 0° TDC when your adjusting the valves.

i have a b18b1 and i really don't kno wat the lifts are.. but if yur's is set at .008 on exhaust and .006 on the intake then it should be about the same lift duration.. but when i set at that it really ran funny and struggles to go up rpm.. have u ever had a problem like that with clicking noise after u changed cams on yur car?
How many miles have you put on the motor since you put in the new cams? Did you oil them up good when you put them in and use some kind of assembly lube? If everything was done correctly, most likely the noise should go away in a day or 2. Did you have to adjust your idle at all to get the car to run right? When I put my cams in, the car idled rough so I had to adjust the idle position so it wouldn't stall - and yes there was some clicking noise, but it went away the next day or so. However my engine never struggled when I hit the gas - it just didn't like to idle to smooth - which is normal with an aggressive cam.
i didn't have none kind of assembly lube but i did oil up the cams before i cranked it... i mean it runs fine and drive like it did but i don't feel any power difference.. so i'm guessing i'm gonna have to get that motor tuned or rechip the ecu... i guess i just have to wait to get the sound out.. hopefully
