Default Powershifting?

We were crusing one night and my pal asked me if i know how to powershift my GSR when driving. I looked puzzled and told him no. I heard of powershifting but never knew how to correctly do it. Hopefully im not grannyshifting I mean i shift pretty fast but i don't think it is powershifting just what i call "shifting fast". Well anyway how do you powershift? Gonna go do some research myself and see how the pros do it.

That is not a friend. That's a guy who talks about car and probably doesn't have one. If he does its auto. If he does and its manual, its probably in for transmission work

Power shifting, holding the gas while you shift and not letting it up like usual?
I'm pretty sure thats what it is, and no it's not good for your car.

i 2nd what everyone else said. I hate people like that. I used to have a tach in my old car and people like your friend would as me "wooow, you got turbo?" when i said no, they were like "then why do you have that turbo gauge?"
lol, whoa. kids these days.

this coming from a ricer (me) for the last 8 years.

thats a damn shame that such a ricer would own a car like the all mighty tYpe-R.

bad for the tranny may be an understatement.

I know a few people who powershift. there's 2 ways i've heard about: 1 where u juss jam the shifter into the next gear while holding down the gas and not even pressing the clutch, 2 where u hold in the gas and kick in the clutch just enough for the teeth on the gears to not touch and then shift and let the clutch go.

Does it help?... yes but barely makes a difference if u can shift fast neway

Is it bad?... 1st way: hell yeah, tranny is juss askin to die. 2nd way: yes, but not as hard on the tranny, unless u do it all the time.

should u do it?... only if u had disposible cash and was a serious dragracer

I use to be nuts when i was younger... on my CRX89si I changed the transmission 5 times! hehe! I finally understand that powershifting wasen't good for syncros and tranny bearing... More over, my uncle witch is my mechanic told me: I'm fed up, next time you find an other place to do the job!

I got the message!

yep alot of people i know shift like the 2nd option jus never let off the gas wen hitting the clutch... but they dont do in daily driving just in a race and most of em only do it in a race they feel they need every little stupid advantage possible... IMO its stupid an then kids wonder why their car craps out, mostly people my age do that stupid ****.... an gives teens a bad rep for driving... but w/e

Learn how to double clutch. Why not double clutch? I mean when racing.

powershifting i think just gives the illusion your going faster too cause the tires spin a bit more. and if its wet your car shakes like no other, at least thats what my experiance with it was in my friends hatch.
