Possible scam? Fishy?
Well, I've been trying to sell my set of LS Mesh and there is this local guy (on H-T) who wanted it. At first, he asked if I can do $250, but I told him it is pending to some guy for $300, so he was like "I have cash in hand I can do it today." However, I was not in town (that was like 2 days ago). Today, I contacted him and he said to do it via Paypal. At first, I was like ok, he'll paypal me the money and I'll drop the rims off at his place. However, I later realized that he can always just dispute the charge, say I scammed him, and keep the rims. So I called him and asked if he has the cash in hand (since if I got the cold hard cash in the pocket is 10x mucho safer); however, he said that he doesn't and the soonest he can do it is Monday (the day when I have to get back to San Diego for school again). He said that he can't take out $300 at the ATM (which is weird since it's capped at $200 every 24hr or something like that, so why can't Sunday work?). So now I don't know what I should do. He already paypal'd the money to my account.
OH AND! All he saw was the pictures of the rims, he didn't even check them out in person or anything and paid already
.
But anyway, I just don't want to get scammed for $300
Being a busboy at the school cafeteria, $300 means alot to me (can cover the damn cost of textbooks)
So question is...what should I do? Both my mom and bro told me it's fishy as hell...

yeah, if he disputes it, you would have to provide proof of item delivery, usually a shipment receipt, but if you drop it off, you would have no proof. You can do a contract, but without a legal notary, it's not really a valid contract. If you're scared, refuse the money, and wait for the actual cash. Perhaps have someone you know deal with the buyer face to face.
i bought a set of seats and headlights on ebay...paypalled ...then picked the items up today...not everything is a scam 300 for a set of wheels is a decent price, I'm sure he'd be just as scared to go to your house with $300 in hand
make up a contract on your computer and make him sign it.that way you have proof in writing. Also take down all his personal info when you drop off the wheels that way you can track him down if you need to.As long as you get everything in writing it will hold up in court if it goes that far.If you don't trust him just paypal the money back to him and only except cash.

Write up a contract or bill of sale, Write down his License number and when he signs it, make sure his signature is the same as his License. BAM! SOLID PROOF of sale to that person.
Make sure that signature matches.
If you want to take even futher precautions, call up your credit card company and ask if those method are valid proof of a transactions.

paypals a pile of **** also. I got scammed also a couple of years ago buying a vtec head and went to paypal and all they could tell me was that they weren't responsible for shipment of goods only transactions or some crap like that. So I didn't even get a cent back. I filed a report also but nothing happed. So now i do all my purchasing or trading in person or from friends. I hope what happend to me doesnt happen to you.
