OT: Suggestions on replacing MR2 engine.
My buddy has a 92 Toyota MR2 Turbo. He apparently needs a new engine because:
Toyota said that the 3rd cylinder is dead. The compression ratio is 70 psi, when it should be 150psi-170psi. Toyota also said that I would have to replace the whole engine. A few people said that he would need to replace the block, or maybe the head. He is not sure what is actually broken.
The symptoms are these:
Car doesn’t start easily
Car idles at about 200-300 RPM if it idles at all.
Car dies out
Temperature gauge doesn’t work
Exhaust blows white smoke
Do you guys know whether he would need to replace the head, block or both? And do you guys know where he could order a legit engine from for a decent price?
TIA!

Well it could be a number of things. Blown head gasket. Blown piston rings. You should have the head checked out for damage. If you want to replace the engine Toysport has some good deals on motors. here is ther ling http://www.toysport.com/ENGINE%20LIS...RCH%202002.htm Hope this helps good luck
