Never seen this one before...
Well, today I got a new axle, (passenger side, 94 GSR) and I noticed that it wouldn't go all the way in. It would get to the splines, and no further. It was lined up perfectly. Then I put my finger in there and there was a rod that was coming down diagonnally stopping the axle from going in any further. I've never seen this before, and I've done my fair share of axles. Has anyone ever run into this problem before? I'm sorry I don't have pics, no access to camera.
I would assume that's what it is. I've never seen it before though, or maybe I just haven't been paying attention in the past. But I've never had an axle that just wouldn't go in.
I basically did, I used a screw driver and i put it up to the pin and held my thumb right at the opening. I moved the screw driver down to the shaft with my thumb in place, and my thumb was right at the end of the splines, and there was still a few more inches to go before it would be completely in. If i place the axle in up to that point and then put my finger in between, the gap is about enough for about 1-2 fingers.
Yeah I have it, it's the right axle. I work at NAPA, we have three different brands of axles, we had one in stock, the other two I ordered, matched them all up to the old one and they're all the same. I thought it was the wrong one too.

plain and simple sounds like the wrong axle..i worked at napa a few yrs back and there axles are horrible and there listings are even worse..... double check it again....
its just not seating past the retaining clip. slide it back a little and stab it in pretty hard youll feel when its in properly. new clips are tough to pass sometime.

The Axle I got is a Napa Max Drive 94-6009... right part number I believe because I checked in sales history and all of those axles went out for integras and never came back defective or anything.

OK... well its definately not the wrong axle, I just need to know if there should be anything in there that would stop the axle from going any further. Its a metal piece coming down about the size of my thumb from what I can tell. It's about 3/4's of the way in where the axle goes into the tranny.
No, there's no difference in axles at all... it's just that piece that i can see that's blocking the axle from going in any further that I've never seen before.
Old axle doesn't go back in... but thanks for letting me know that that is supposed to be there... i guess i'll just beat the hell outta this thing untill it goes in all the way! THANKS EVERYONE
Are the splines in good shape, I can't tell from that photo? A buddy of mine had his axle pop out, and that damaged the splines so even a new axle wouldn't go in.
