Sounds like a fuse, and/or a bad climate control.

i checked the fuses and they seem to be ok. should i pull out the climate control and check the contacts or something? someone suggested the blower motor. anyone think it could be that?

that's what it looks like y0.
Are you sure it's the resistor, though?
When the resistor on my Si went bad the a/c still worked and 1 or 2
fan speeds still worked.

not sure if its the resistor or not, thats y i wanted someone to tell me if it looked ok or not. what about that grayish stuff on the wires? i see its like cracked and some of it looks like it fell off. if its not the resistor i'm gonna look at the blower motor next.

ok well none of my fan settings work. from what i've read, even if the resistor is bad some of the fan settings will still work. is this true?

In my case it was true. If I remember correctly, 2 worked 2 didn't.
You might have a fuse or relay problem or the fan or a/c switch might be bad.
Try the new resistor 1st and see what happens. At least it's cheap to replace.
Ok the helms says check fuses # 12, 17, 20, 21, 24
Before you do anything else. So you should start there.

If it's not the fuses the helms says the next step is to check the grounds,
it lists 4 or 5 different ones to check. But without the manual to show you the locations, it would be kind of hard to explain.
Is there some way you could borrow a helms from someone?

ok i checked the fuses u mentioned. all are ok except i'm missing #17 which is the rear defroster relay. however i don't see a rear defroster button so i don't even think this applies to my situation. i have the pdf version of the helms manual. tell me what section your looking at.

When was the last time the system worked correctly? Did it ever work?
I'm confused as to why that fuse was missing, and why's there no power to switchs.
If ALL the fuses ARE GOOD. Then the next step according to the helms is check grounds: G281, G101, G201.
Then you go from there.

i have no idea where G281 is. i see where G101 is supposed to be, but there are no wires there. i have no idea where these wires are supposed to even come from. i'm pretty sure G201 is all good. this car is really pissing me off...

As per 93 teg helms:
g101 is the ground for the rad fan relay and coolant temp switch. it is in the engine bay, and is part of the engine wire harness.
g281 is the ground for condesor fan relay and motor. It is in the engine bay as well, and is part of the ac wire harness.
HTH. good luck.
