Default Need quick help, changing tranny fluid.

I am changing my tanny fluid because A, I have a slow leak, B, I don't know the last time it was changed and C, I have a high RPM 3rd gear grind. I have search and found different opinions on fluid types. I was just going to O'Reillys and get some tranny fluid. What is the best kind to get? They don't carry anything called GM Syncro Mesh, that is was I was going to get.

Use Honda MTL. It is designed to work with our transmissions and does an amazing job.

You can get it at the dealer (honda or Acura) for about $5 a quart. You will need three quarts.

If your grinding isn't to bad at this point, the new fluid will help out tremendously

I found this out when i didn't use this for my lsd equipped itr trans. The fluid has friction reducer in it and worked instantly.

I don't feel like pulling the tranny to fix it. It looks like there is a hairline crack in the case which I suspect it is leaking from. It really isn't a bad leak or anything. If the car sits for a week or so, there is a stain about the size a jar lid on the ground. I really don't plan on having the car too much longer.

So, I think I will use the Honda fluid. Is it the fluid that goes in the car or do you have to ask for it specifically?

Honda MTL is more than $5/quart. I use Penzoil synchromesh and it works great, no more grinding.

O'reilly sells Royal Purple Synchromax. It works good.
