NEED HELP!!
I was driving the other night and my car seemed to backfire, for the car went forward then back then forward then back for about 5 seconds as i slowed down to the stop light...at about 20 mph the car shut off and hasnt turned on since...my friend came over today and said it could be my timing belt...he owns a nissan and didnt know much about it, but he said that my timing belt felt a lil loose for he could push down on in and it would cave in..i dont know if this is normal or not, or if i need to change my timing belt. When i try to start my car i hear a popping sound coming from under the car and just click click from the starter...i just put in a new fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor about a week ago...everything in the head looked to be fine so i was thinking either timing or possibly fuel...the only thing is the fuel pump turns on when i turn my key (i can hear it) which is y im going more toward the timing belt...i also have 105k miles on my car as of this moment, so if it is the belt, would it be more worth while to go and swap a motor in for i know the labor for that work would be a lot...i would be able to put the motor in with a hlep of some friends so that wouldnt be a problem...but any replies would be most helpful thanks!
