msd box ????
Hello everyone, I just got msd wires, cap, and a external coil. I was going to also get the sport compact msd ignition system, but was concerend about it. Will I have to take the ignition box out when I get a turbo system? I did a search on this before posting but nothing came up. Sorry for the stupid question. THANKS

No, you won't have any problems running a MSD Box on boost. In fact its better. You won't feel any power difference, but the car will start effortlessly, and run smoother. Stock Honda ignitions have been known to support up to 400whp before running into problems, so it might not be worth it to get the MSD box. The launch and nitrous features come in handy though if you get a MSD box that has them.

I have the MSD ignition 6AL with rev limiter. I had some bad experiences when the MSD box stopped working after 2 months. I had to constantly call customer service, then they tried to charge me, then I had to mail proof of receipt AGAIN. To make a long story short, MSD customer service sucks. On the bright side, now that it's fixed, it has lasted 6 months.
I'm just giving a warning regarding their customer service; others may have had good experiences. I personally vowed never to buy MSD parts again.

I know a exhaust helps, but is their something anyone recomends before boostnig. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Yeah, make sure your engine is in top running condition. YOu know your ignition is str8, so do a compression, and leakdown test to see how healthy your engine is. I would make sure your fuel system is squared-away. Make sure you get a good fuel pump, a new fuel filter. Just do a basic tune-up, and you should be fine. A good mod to have is definitely a good exhaust. For turbo, I'd recommend a 3" hi-flow cat, and a 3" catback. Thermal makes a great exhaust, just for boosted cars. Another thing to get if you want to spend the money, is an ECU, chipped for an engine management system, that way when you do go boost, you can download a base map, and program it, just to get you to a dyno for tuning. You might also think about getting some cam gears, and a fuel pressure regulator, just to make it more tunable.
What kind of kit are you planning on running, and how much power you plan on extracting will decide what mods to do.

Thanks again for the help. I going to follow your advice and check where my motor stands, and then follow with fuel upgrades and ecu upgrade. Is their a turbo system someone would recomend for a 93 DA? I am trying to see what the turbo manifold is going to look like because of the lack of space, and also was
wondering how much they go for. THANKS AGAIN
