Mid pipe question
Before you make a stupid *** comment like that why don't you do a little research on vibrant exhaust. It's a good quality axle back. My question was how much of a difference in performance (if any) will the same size mandrel bent mid pipe make. If there is a difference in performance between brands then help me out and tell me why. If you cannot tell me then don't waste my time.
thank you

Minimal gain, and i have done my research and there is about 15 brands, if not more, that are better than vibrant.

Well, considering that I have never heard of a muffler shop having a REAL mandrel bender, I think you may have to rethink your question.

Honestly all aftermarket exhausts are over-priced cosmetic feature with chrome dipped piping and fancy hangers. To tell you the truth, I've built better looking, better sounding exhausts just by having the mandrel bender and the skill to bend it and a good 220v welder. I admit for people not mechanically inclined and people who don't have the access to exhaust benders its probably better to buy an aftermarket exhaust because of the guaranteed fitment and easy installation as compared to bending your own pipe, welding and flanging it, building the hangers, and finding a good muffler with a straight through baffel design. If you do build your own, you only have to pay $30.00 for 3 sticks of whatever size pipe you want and the cost of a nice muffler. In your case, I would use the Vibrant axle back and build a 2.25 mandrel- bent mid-pipe (make sure it isn't crush-bent, if so make the pipe 2.5 in.) with a test-pipe. With that set-up you will see significant mid-range power and a little high-end power (basically it will pull harder and it will red-line in higher gears easier) maybe 3-6 Hp. Unless you want a car you can trailer to the car show and polish with a diaper then you would almost have to go with about a $500.00 cat-back system. If you are just trying to go fast and you don't care whether the pipe is chrome or not then I would build an exhaust. Most people think because the exhaust was 400.00 dollars that it will do the job but really they get a APEX'i WS cat-back with a restrictive muffler and it sounds like the car is farting and shiting itself down the road.
