Default Maint. Reqd. light?

I just picked up a 94 GS-R from an auction and the Maint. Reqd. light is on. Is this something to worry about or is it just an oil change reminder light or.......???? It feels like the VTEC isnt kickin' in and I was wondering whether or not it has anything to do that. VTEC @ 5200k or so right????? Any help would be appreciated.
MERRY X-MAS!!!!!

Yeah, that is when the vtec kicks in, close to it anyway. Im not sure or not, but vtec may not kick in if the CEL light is on, safe mode or something. Take it to the dealer, and get them to pull the codes, or you can jump the ecu and pull them yourself. Considering you got it from an auction..you may want to be concered. For one thing, it was probably sold as is, so if something is seriously wrong, your sol.

It's not the CEL light it is the Maint. Reqd. light. The CEL isn't on. As far as something being seriously wrong I don't think so. It runs perfect and the compression is 190 across the board with 130,XXX miles. Just wondering what the Maint. Reqd. light means.

are you kidding me?? dont pay attention to this. vtec is @ 4400 on your 94 gsr, and maintenence required is just a little reminder that comes on every 7500 mi (or 15k?) to say make sure youve done the scheduled maintenence. nothing is wrong with the car at all. look under the dash, there will be a little blue button, hold it in, light gone. have a great night,

Whoops sorry. You might be right, sometimes it just comes on for your xxx mile tune up. That happened to me the other day, 30k tune up (total waste of money). Either jump the ecu, or get the codes pulled. Then we can help you out some more.
