If it puts down 218whp, then you would have had to have it dyno tuned.
So 1st off, you would have the TUNED ECU that goes with the LS/VTEC. 2nd, you would know what ECU to use.

YES. no one chips them. Too costly, and no one has figured them out 100%.

I rarely go into the integra forum, but I'm appalled by the stupidity in this forum.
all these people saying "get a chipped ecu y00" are lacking.
All a chipped ecu is, is a ecu that has been modified to accept custom tuned bins of tunes-
and a basemap is exactly what you it is- just a map to get you to the tuner cmon people use some common sense here

Something that is built (i.e. not stock) requires a tunable ECU. Even a near stock build LSVTEC won't reach it's full potential with a P30 (B16) or P72 (GSR) ECU. You don't have to drop crazy $ on Hondata or AEM EMS. Just a simple socketed OBD1 ECU (which does not need to be a P28 btw) tuned with Uberdata, Crome, etc. is all you need. Also to clarify the ECU question, the P28 is the OBD1 D series VTEC ECU, the GSR ECU is P72.

I highly doubt it. Why spend $1000 on a AEM EMS when he can buy a new S300 already installed for $670 shipped from eBay? And I'm just making an example. The S300 is the most expense Hondata unit for B-series. He can easily get an S200 w/ecu for around $250.
So no he's not talking about a standalone
People just do NOT know what they are doing. They do not research anything and have no idea what is involved. Buying a "CHIP" for any engine is a waste of money and the shorter way to ending an engine's life.
Leave the tuning to the professionals. Save up the money to do it right. Why spend all the time and money doing something, then cutting corners at the end.
And I'm still curious as to how the OP can say he has an LS/VTEC with 218whp and has no clue what ECU to run
This whole thread should be locked. There is nothing useful here that cannot be found by searching the hundreds of threads already started.

alright well to clear up all that i would know what ecu to use. its not my motor so i was not quite sure but it does have hondata that comes with it but the compression ratio is 12 to 1 and I was looking for a motor to boost but i cant boost that
sorry for the confusion

you can still boost it!! no one said that you couldnt boost it you just cant put alot of lbs on it and you will need high octane gas something like e85
p.s i think the motor you were talking about is MY motor i think i talked to you about the whole hondata thing and everything but best of luck with your build your gonna do
