LSD.. what it does and is it worth it?
I have a choice to stick with a standard trans on a GSR 4dr, or swap in this one b-series trans my friend modified, it has shorter ratios setup for a B16A to go all motor. I'm going to stick with all Motor on the GSR. is the B18C1 much different from the B16A that i should have the GSR trans regeared instead? The B16A trans also already has LSD, i've read about it but I'm not sure what direct effect it has on transmissions. Thanks!
Id say hang on to your tranny and just put a LSD into it... It makes a ridiculous difference in traction both cornering and off the line...well worth it but i think your gears are better, im thinking for turbo though so its your call.
Although B16 tranny's do have shorter gears and a final drive almost identical to that of a Type R...I personally would go with a package from Quaiffe and modify that into your GSR tranny. You won't be dissapointed.

I second that, my first honda was an 00 R (LSD of course) and my current GSR has a quaife......an LSD in unequaled for straight line traction and helping pull the car out of a corner. I will never own a peg leg Honda......it feels disabled.

Actually all B series VTEC trannys share the same 4.400 final drive except the 98 spec R which had a 4.785 and the 89-91 SiR had a 4.266.
LSDs redistribute the torque from the wheel with traction to the wheel without traction, generally the inside wheel is getting the effect of the LSD when turning and it's a split when going straight. I've only had Hondas with LSD so I don't really know the effects of not having one but I can only assume it's much better.

The 89-91 Civic/CRX SiR (Y1) had an LSD option.
