For just the sheer cost alone, i would go with either an LS/VTEC or a straight GSR with ITR cams. Your decision should be based on your future goals for the car. An ITR swap will be quick out of the box, but will cost about twice what an LS/VTEC does....

yea depends on your budget, a semi built ls/vtec can put out the same numbers as an itr and will be cheaper.

ok noob

who cares what you would say? it's about what performs... if you build an ls/v that performs as well as a type r w/ reliability for less money, then IMO you win, not the guy that dropped all his $ for the type r

by the way, i hate ls/vtecs

^x2 but ive seen many ls vtec motors take a **** cause they werent done properly... you really have to have everything down to the wire.. althought if you have the money imho id go with the type r, cause its 100% reliable stock

To the op: it makes more sense to find a b18c1,then slap a ctr intake cam and itr exhaust cam and equip it with cable YS1 or Y1 tranny, for sake of simplicity and reliability.

hp=$+time, in other words what you use should be based on your bankroll. figure out what you want to spend and go from there. Sure a full Type R front clip would be great, they also cost about five grand complete. Tell people what you can spend and the forum will be much more helpful.

as said get a b18c1 which is reliable than the ls vtec, and put in itr cams etc. and your set, my bro had an lsv once and was built right but only lasted 3 years, it took a dukie with the new owner, but gsr or type r is way more reliable, and throw pistons in there and all that junk, lsv=not reliable

AN ITR transmission is better than a GSR for both the ratios and the LSD.

i can build one right, that's not my point....my point is that to do it "right" you're going to spend more than $2000 unless you're a wholesaler or the stuff you're getting is stolen...and why yould you defend ls/vtec then tell him to listen to everyone else?

97% of people don't do it right, and i'm willing to bet you're in that percentage....to say you're "crackin dat madd vtak all day erry day y0" is great and all, but do you really think you'll be able to say that a year from now? not me....i think your "built" motor will be blown way before then

/end rant
