Looking to build an LS Vtec... It seems to be hard for me to find a b16 or gsr head.. does anybody know where i can get them but not overpriced?? Also i'm pretty new in the engine rebuilding i was wondering if somebody could help me with some lists of what i should get for the setup?? I've read many threads in this forum but most of them are all different.. I basically just need a head start

this is stupid, why dont people just answer the question instead of just sayin"search" is its the same question then just answer it an hone your knowledge. as for the question what kinda of motor you tryin to build? my friend ran 22psi on a stock ls block with a stock gsr head an pumped out 438 whp. so a fresh stock ls block can take it, just your preference....Downing Town PA .

 

Yea... well i wouldn't want to run it stock.. because most of these engines have too much mileage on it.. i want to rebuild the bottom and possibly the top also. But as i said it seems pretty hard to find a GSR or B16 head. And to those other replies.. i have checked, but like i also stated most of them have various builds but don't list everything that i needed. Also if anybody does have a B16 or GSR head they are selling and living close to Philly please let me know..

 

have you checked the market place? i've even seen some heads on ebay for a decent price before.

 

I've tried to search on craigslist since it can deal with local.. i don't trust ebay much because last time i bought something from there, it turned out to be a fake =\ but i've checked ebay tho.. but none local so i'm **** out of luck on there. If anybody know a legit place online that sells heads i'd appreciate if you let me know thanks. Also i just checked the FAQ at top, they got some good prices on the stuff i need.. i didn't know somebody made a price thread and where to get it. Now it all shortens me to get a head and i'm pretty much set.

as for buying a head, wait for it and buy it local either in the market forums/Craigslist/or junk yards), and check it out first!

a few things to check for
rocker arm wear, rocker arm shafts (trust me there are some stupid people who damages them), cam caps, burnt/damaged valves, any visible damage/cracks.
