^^yep

and also, any engine that is making more hp than it is supposed to and is driven/raced hard will eventually break certain parts.....be it built gsr or ls-vtec

in my experience i havn't had any problems with an ls-v that would cause me to worry about daily driving mine -- which i have been doing for about 2.5 yrs

dude...search....there are TONS of topics about this...

a motor is only as good as the build...how long it lasts is up to the build and your right foot...

quality parts = OE Honda parts or better aftermarket...no fake BS...

Yes there is a trick....it's called tuning. Tuning your car is the most valuable thing you could ever do to your car. ls/vtec is not unreliable......its all in the tune.

That's the kind of advise I'm talking about, most of the searches I've done all lead to either don't listen to them ls vtec is good if you have good parts, or no ls vtec sucks. I'm in no way a pro so even though i would have had my car tuned i didn't know that this would be the difference between the life and death of my motor.
And wow 2.5 years on Ls vtec, that shuts a lot of people up. I plan on having mine as a daily driver too so that makes me feel a lot better about my plans.
How do you guys feel about OEM parts vs aftermarket for about 200hp? Any more advise would be great thanks

Depends on the part you are talking about. OEM is great stuff...but so is aftermarket. OEM should be plenty if all you are wanting is 200. Will this be boosted?

Mine is a daily driver as well, and I would refuse to boost at all if I were not tuned. It's just not worth the risk

It honestly is about the build...if you go OEM internals that's FINE...just make sure you get the motor freshened up when you add the parts. Don't skimp on ANYTHING though..if you KNOW you need it...GET IT. ARP rod bolts are a MUST on stock rods especially in this case. New oil/water pumps from GSR/ITR and GSR timing belt and tensioner/spring.

Mine is a daily driver, I dont' have my cams yet so no dyno...but, I can tell you, you will love it. Mine is mildly built...just make sure you get a 3angle valve job while it's at the machine shop...it's worth the money for the flow.

I am pretty sure i am going to boost on my ls vtec, do oem parts still cut it besides rod bolts and gaskets and seals what else is a must to change?

stop right there.

the gsr/itr/si head is going to give you more compression.. not to mention you'll probably want to slap some other pistons (for more valve clearance i think?) like itr, b16 or something. b16 pistons with a gsr head is 11.6:1... good luck boosting that.

save your money, PLEASE, unless you are super serious about this and are eventually going to build the **** out of it (where the advantages of a vtec head actually come into play), dont do lsvtec THEN turbo,

boost your ls and call it a day, unless you're going to go nuts... i saw myself in the same situation and saw no choice but to go nuts and build everything.

ls/vtec is just as bad as a gsr if they are boosted and untuned.

If you are boosting it then that's a whole new ball game. Preferrably you want low compression pistons. You can run low abouts of boost/whp on stock everything. Seeing as you said you wanted 200whp then OEM is still fine. But if you plan on going above that just build it now. Do it right the first time and you save money in the long run.
