Default ls motor

A good friend of mine offered to sell a 91 ls motor with about 120k on it to me for 85 bucks. Its a complete engine (block, complete cylinder head, rotating assembly, oil pan, ect). It does not come with accesories such as alternator, ps pump, a/c comp. ect. It does need to be rebuilt but i work at a honda dealership so i can get the parts cheap. So now for the questions. Is this a good deal? Also what is the difference between a newer ls motor compared to an older one? I believe the head on the newer ls motor flows a bit better, but im not 100% sure. I just figured how can you go wrong for 85 bucks. Thanks for the info in adavance.
